Default Analog Servo Drive for mach3

    Ok!
I have owned some good quality chinese Servo drives and decided to go with vital systems DSPMC to close the loop with mach3.

My question is that my servo drives are having analog inputs for speed and torque control only. while CW, CCW and pulse signals doesn't mention anything about analog. Is it sufficient if you are going to interface this drive with external motion controller to close the loop with mach3 ?

    Thanks in advance.

I have this drive. Please someone tell me if it's going to interface with any motion controller to close the loop with mach3.

Mach does not close the loop, it is closed back to the servo drive.
Mach outputs step/dir signal to servo drive.
The drive you show appears to offer a few command options, analog and pulse, which I assume is step/dir?

    Thanks Al !

I red your posts about this and thats why I decided to close the loop through vital systems DSPMS. The problem is that the driver offers torque and speed analog inputs while I assume that it needs pulse analog. am I right ?

Torque or Velocity refers to the type of control the drive supports.
Either analogue or pulse is the format for the command signal which is different.

I am not familiar with the DSPMC, but I assume it outputs a step/dir signal?
The Drives mention interfacing to Mach through a PC so I assume they accept step/dir.
I use my drives in torque mode, if using this, there must be a way to set this type of drive function in the drive settings or parameters?

Al, I believe it outputs ±10V, and interfaces to Mach3 with a plugin.

One more word I got that this drive can close the loop itself. And it's stated at their site. But I don't know how to do it ? All I can do is to connect the step and dir ports.

If as Gerry says the DSPMC outputs analogue then the drive accepts this also!
The drive closing the loop is normal with Mach, you have to read the manual that came with the drive and if any tuning software supplied?

I just have the manual while they don't have any tuning software.

    Thanks to both of you.

I really learned too much from both of you and some other members as well. I am sending the mail to supplier regarding this and I will try to complete this thread with the solution I get.

Read the manuals on this device for a better understanding of the concept.

Thanks neilw20 for an informative link. I hope I can gather the knowledge required to make a good closed loop CNC Mill with the help of you people.

I got a reply from Vital systems as below.

Your servo drive does support +-10v speed and torque command, compatible with dspmc. Also the drive has encoder output for position which will be fed into the dspmc J6/J7 encoder inputs. These drives look professional

If you provide the shipping address we can check the shipping cost and give you a quote for one system with controller and breakout boards.
